Our newest feature goes to BigScott Collard, and below is a little about him.

He goes by BigScott because his son’s name is also Scott. Most folks know him as the Godfather. DIY Mullet Maintenance: Mastering the Art of At-Home Styling and Trimming

The mullet, with its distinctive blend of business in the front and party in the back, demands attention—and the right maintenance.

1. Invest in Quality Tools:

   - Begin your at-home mullet maintenance journey by investing in high-quality hair clippers and shears. A reliable set of tools ensures precision and minimizes the risk of uneven cuts.

2. Understand Your Mullet Style:

   - Before diving into the trimming process, have a clear vision of your desired mullet style. Whether it's a classic cut or a modern interpretation, understanding your style helps guide the trimming process.

3. Start with Damp Hair:

   - Wet hair is more pliable and easier to work with. Begin by washing and partially drying your hair before commencing the trimming process. This ensures a smoother and more controlled cut.

4. Section and Conquer:

   - Divide your hair into sections—front, sides, and back. Begin with the front sections, carefully trimming the length to your desired style. Progress to the sides and, finally, tackle the party in the back.

5. Use a Mirror System:

   - Employ a mirror system for a comprehensive view of your hair from all angles. A handheld mirror in conjunction with your bathroom mirror allows you to monitor the entire mullet as you trim, ensuring evenness.

6. Take It Slow and Steady:

   - Rome wasn't built in a day, and a perfectly coiffed mullet requires patience. Take your time with each section, making small, deliberate cuts. It's easier to trim more if needed than to remedy an overly enthusiastic snip.

7. Check for Evenness:

   - After each section, assess your work for evenness. A balanced mullet is the key to a polished look. Make any necessary adjustments before moving on to the next section.

8. Texturize for Flair:

   - To add flair and texture to your mullet, consider using thinning shears or texturizing scissors. This step adds dimension and movement to the hair, enhancing the overall style.

9. Finish with Styling Products:

   - Once your at-home mullet maintenance is complete, style your hair with appropriate products. Whether you prefer a sleek look or a tousled finish, styling products help enhance the final result.

DIY mullet maintenance is an adventurous endeavor that allows you to express your individuality from the comfort of your home. Armed with the right tools, a clear vision of your style, and a patient approach, you can master the art of at-home mullet trimming. So, grab those shears, embrace the challenge, and revel in the satisfaction of maintaining your iconic mullet with DIY finesse.
